This track is situated in Olympic park's territory in Sochi, Russia. It's one of the quickest tracks in the world, the maximum speed will be about 321 km/h, so the tolerances for the contractor were very high. The deviations after paving had to be within 1 mm, so the contractor was suggested to buy Big Sonic-Ski with 4 sensors. The paving was carried out by 3 asphalt pavers. 2 of them (on each side) were with Big Sonic-ski on one side and drag ski on the other side. The 3rd asphalt paver (in the middle) was with 2 grade sensors.
During the paving Big Sonic-Ski with 4 sensors has proved to be the best solution for accomplishment the most difficult projects. After control measures the system has shown the best results. The deviations were 0.5mm (!). The customer was amazed by Big Sonic-Ski performance. This is the 200th system installed by Korrus and the 5th Big Sonic-Ski with 4 sensors (we call it Big-4-Ski)
The circuit, the fourth-longest on the Formula One calendar behind Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan and Silverstone in the UK, is built around the Sochi Olympic Park. The track is the first purpose-built Formula One facility in Russia.
Consideration of the object of design as a system leads the architect to understand the composition as a concrete unity and internally dismembered integrity. Mastering the composition is connected with the ability to distinguish the main, essential, to establish the correct ratio of the main and secondary.
Sochi Autodrom is partly integrated in the public road network and consists of two circuits. The long circuit is to be used only for Formula 1. Including 1.7 kilometers of public roads, it is 5.85 kilometers long and feature 19 corners. The width varies from 13 to 15 meters and the direction is clockwise. The mix of straights and fast corners makes it to one of the fastest of Formula One. It certainly features many of the characteristics of a street circuit, including plenty of 90-degree turns.
Special techniques are used for the laying of asphalt base course, which is a unique multicomponent mixture with mineral admixtures. Only a few companies in the world have sufficient experience in laying of this asphalt. The works on interior decoration of the Main Grandstand, the asphalt carpet cutting of the race track with the laying of specialized asphalt surface course will be carried out after the Olympic Games. Safety fence and other infrastructure of the race track will be installed. The race control system installation will be carried out.
